چکیده
A 67-year-old woman was admitted for radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. She had underwent patch closure of atrial septal defect 7 years before. Her arterial blood oxygen saturation level was 94.6% without any oxygen supplement. Her electrocardiogram, chest X-ray, and echocardiogram were within normal limits. She underwent cardiac computed tomography for the left atrial reconstruction before the RFCA. It revealed abnormal drainage of the middle IMAGES IN THIS ISSUE Cardiovascular Disorders

Persistent left superior vena cava
Persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) is the most common congenital malformation of thoracic venous return and is present in 0.3 to 0.5% of individuals in the general population. This heart specimen was dissected from a 35-year-old male cadaver whose cause of death was determined as non-cardiac. The heart was examined and we found a PLSVC draining into the coronary sinus. The right superio...
متن کاملImportance of preoperative assessment of pulmonary venous anomaly for safe video-assisted lobectomy.
During the treatment of 86 patients with video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) anatomical resection (include segmentectomy) within the last two years, we have encountered five patients (5.8%) with anomalous venous returns. Anomalous returns included: 1) common trunk of the left pulmonary vein; 2) right middle pulmonary vein (V4) draining into the inferior pulmonary vein (IPV); 3) left lin...

In this investigation, 25 adult New Zealand White rabbits randomly selected from both sexes and studied.Coloured latex injection and corrosion cast methods were applied on the materials. This study was carried out to disclose the distribution of the cardiac veins of the New Zealand White rabbits. The veins that drain the heart were found to be the great cardiac vein, the middle cardiac vein, th...
متن کاملIsolated congenital absence of coronary sinus.
A case is reported in which contrast angiography showed complete absence of the coronary sinus, the cardiac veins draining separately into left and right atria. Normal systemic venous drainage was demonstrated by contrast cross-sectional echocardiographic methods and later confirmed by conventional angiographic injections. In addition, angiography showed a stenosis in the anomalous cardiac vein...
